Types of Massage Therapy Offered
Acute Care, Medical Massage, and Injury Rehabilitation
This form of therapy is completed under the direction of a physician and works on muscles and connective tissues. A more aggressive type of massage, the goal is to reduce pain, tension, and spasms through the use of a variety of techniques, including trigger point, myofascial, and neuromuscular therapies.
This is more commonly used for auto accident victims and worker’s compensation cases.
Swedish Massage
A relaxing full-body massage incorporating effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, percussion, and kneading through long strokes and gentle pressures.
This particular type of massage relieves muscle and emotional tensions, fatigue, and improves skin tone and flexibility.
Deep Tissue
This will assist restoration of normal ranges of motion to your injured muscles and joints using gentle pressures and compressions.
Its purpose is to enhance muscle coordination and endurance for those who demand peak performance. This technique also uses trigger point therapy, in which pressure on a tension point in the muscle is sustained until it releases.
Stone Massage Treatments
Heated or Hot Roman Stone Massage is a form of massage bodywork utilizing Swedish Massage techniques, along with smooth heated or chilled river or ocean stones. Its main benefit is a deeper massage resulting from the use of heat, but is not for everyone, especially those with certain medical conditions.
