What distinguishes us from the others is our scope of services and patient friendly orientation.  Available at Therapeutic Touch is:

Acute Care, Medical Massage, and Injury Rehabilitation

This form of therapy is under the direction of a physician when working on muscles and connective tissues.  A more aggressive therapy, its goal is to reduce pain, tension and spasms through the use of a variety of techniques, including trigger point, myofascial and neuromuscular therapies. This type of massage is more commonly used for auto accident victims and worker’s compensation cases.

Swedish Massage

A relaxing full body massage incorporating effleurage, petrasage, tapotement, percussion and kneading through  long strokes and gentle pressures. This particular rub down relieves muscle and emotional tensions, fatigue and improves skin tone and flexibility.

Deep Tissue

Assists restoration of normal ranges of motion to injured muscles and joints using gentle pressures and compressions. Its purpose is also to enhance muscle coordination and endurance for those who demand peak performance. This technique also uses trigger point therapy in which pressure on a tension point in the muscle is sustained until it releases.

Sports Massage

uses stretching techniques along with  range of motion tests before a specific muscle group is massaged; It could range from the whole body to just the legs, for example.

Stone Massage Treatments

Heated or Hot Roman Stone Massage is massage bodywork utilizing Swedish Massage techniques along with smooth heated and or chilled river or ocean stones.  It's main benefit is a deeper massage work than just plain Swedish Massage.  There are several additional benefits which result from the heat used during this massage.  But heated stone massage is not for everyone, especially those individuals who have medical problems.

Pregnancy Massage

Your entire body adapts to the new life growing inside you. During this time you need and deserve support, both emotionally and physically. Pregnancy massage offers you the emotional support by providing you complete attention to your needs and concerns. It offers complete relaxation, reduction and alleviation of neck and back pain caused by improper, muscle weakness and imbalance. Another advantage is the development of sensory awareness that promotes an easier labor and delivery. Massage can also be beneficial with  heartburn, edema, muscle aches, fatigue, anxiety relief, lowering blood pressure, preparing for labor, and much more.

Chair Massage

is done on a special massage chair that allows the person to be clothed while receiving massage. The therapist uses compression, trigger point, and petrissage techniques, with no oil. This massage is ideal for corporate offices,  chair massage parties, or for individuals who cannot lie down on a massage table.

Thai Yoga Massage

is a type of massage that consists of palming, thumbing and putting the receiver through a series of gentle stretches. Thai Yoga massage can be both relaxing and energizing at the same time. It is done wearing gym clothes and on a mat on the floor, rather than on a massage table. It is very important to notify your practitioner if you have high  blood pressure, are pregnant or menstruating as it could be harmful to be put in any inverted positions in any of those conditions.

Paraffin

hand treatments utilizes paraffin wax into which the client dips their hands. It will soothe joint pain and arthritis while softening the skin.

Reike

is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” in which the practitioner holds their hands a few inches from the patient’s body and manipulates the energy field from there. Loose, comfortable clothing is usually worn during the treatment. The treatment proceeds with the practitioner placing his hands on the recipient in various positions. Between 12 and 20 positions are used, with the whole treatment lasting 45 to 90 minutes. It is reported that the recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated, even when a non-touching approach is being used. A state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well-being, is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment, although emotional releases can also occur. It also destroys energy blockages, and detoxifies the system. Regular treatments, on an on-going basis, can be used with the aim of maintaining well-being.

Additional Conditions and Concerns

As reported in the AMTA publication Massage & Medicine current research indicates that physicians are beginning to prescribe therapeutic massage for a wide range of medical conditions, including: Allergies, Arthritis, Asthma and bronchitis, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Chronic and temporary pain, Circulatory problems, Digestive disorders, including spastic colon and constipation, Headache, Insomnia, Myofascial pain and Fibromyalgia, Range of motion, Sinusitis, Stress, Sports injuries, including pulled or strained muscles and ligaments, Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) and Infant development.

A great majority of the adult American population has not had even one professional massage. As attitudes change in favor of natural approaches to health, the potential for bodyworkers is tremendous. It all starts (and grows) with steady, effective promotion and keeping the word out about our services.
